I'm Kathleen Hart, author of Devorgilla Days. You might also know me as Poshpedlar on Instagram.
'Devorgilla Days' is a memoir of recovery, resilience and having the courage to begin life again. I found by serendipity a derelict cottage in Scotland and with the help of my wonderful local community, and the support of thousands of my Instagram followers, I survived the darkest days. I chose to live life differently and hope that my story will inspire others to face and overcome their own challenges. It's never too late to start over.
'We all need a Devorgilla Cottage somewhere in our hearts and in our imaginations. This is a book about survival and renewal and sheer willpower.” - Kirsty Wark
"I am UTTERLY hooked. It’s SO beautifully written and so enchanting I feel quite bereft having reached the end of my allotted segment. Bravo for everything. So many achievements all wrapped in one beautiful narrative. It’s heaven."
"I loved Kathleen’s book so much, it’s very inspirational. Her evocative writing really brought her story to life for me as I read it.
I can imagine it all so clearly in my head; it would make a fabulous movie!"
"I bought this book as I have followed Kathleen Hart for some years now on Instagram. I didn't really have any expectations and if anything expected to be disappointed as memoirs of health and daily life are not necessarily my thing, but slightly to my surprise enjoyed Kathleen's book enormously.
Although having suffered from various horrendous health problems Kathleen maintains and emanates such a strong feeling of positivity and takes such pleasure in the smallest incidents of day to day life in Wigtown that in the nicest way, and without a hint of moralising, she manages to be a lesson to us all in living and enjoying life to the full .
I became totally absorbed in her day to day life and the characters she meets during her recuperation in a very small town, much of which would seem barely worth mentioning let alone writing about but she imbues the smallest incidents with such interest that I was thoroughly gripped. All in all a great lesson in life being what one makes of it.
I can't recommend it enough!"
